Life is good!

January 21st, 2010 Tanja No comments

It’s been pretty intense around here lately. Lots of stuff going on that has taken a lot of energy: getting everything ready for the big move, exercising, school-stuff etc. So I decided that I had to take a step back and cut out a few things. After some thought I decided that I’ll have to let the exercising be for the moment. I get a good workout from all the packing anyways so it won’t hurt me if I wait a week or two before I get back to my routine. So for the last few days I haven’t done any exercise at all, it feels weird but my body is thanking me. My energy levels are slowly increasing again even though I have to admit that I do miss my workouts. Plus I’ve managed to pull a muscle around my rib cage (left side) and it’s seriously annoying. Most of the time I don’t feel it so I forget all about it. But then I do something, like reaching for something, and it hurts like … ssshhhh… Really annoying for someone like me who absolutely hates to admit that there’s something wrong with me :D

But lets not dwell on that, over to something fun! I’ve had some good news today, some really good news:

Good news Nr 1: I’ve not only passed my Java 2 course at university, I passed it with flying colours. I got the highest grades available on all assignments and the highest grade on the course in total. *yay*

Good news Nr 2: We have been accepted for the flat we want to rent in the UK. *yay* So now we have some place to live in once we get there. We’ll spend one night in a hotel and then the next day we’ll sign the contract and get the keys. *yay* Such a relief!!

Now it’s pizza and movie time for me and DH. :D *yummy*

Cardio and thighs (again)

January 18th, 2010 Tanja No comments

After yesterdays workout that focused on my thighs I thought it would be a good idea to focus on something else than legs today. So I decided to do a routine that was more cardio and tabata protocol-inspired.

I really struggled with the Mountain climbers as my shoes didn’t provide a good grip on the floor so they kept sliding. Was really hard to keep the form during that one. I had planned to do another exercise too, a Snowboarder. But my thighs gave up after the squat jumps so I barely managed to finish the Various jumps part. Even though I hadn’t planned to focus on my thighs they did get a real workout today too. So tomorrow it’s all upper body for me! :D

Exercise:

  • 8 * 20 sec Ups & Downs (standing to sitting on the floor)
  • 8 * 20 sec Mountain climbers
  • 8 * 20 sec Squat jumps (hands touching the floor)
  • 8 * 20 sec Various jumps (Scissors, Virtual skipping rope, Running etc)

A good thigh burn

January 17th, 2010 Tanja No comments

Not really sure why but today when I woke up I felt that my thighs were sore. Too bad for me that I had already decided to focus on that part of my body for todays workout. :D I did a short warm up followed by 4 supersets of the exercises below, only a short break between each superset.

The invisible chair was a real killer for me. By the time that I was doing it for the fourth time my legs were shaking. The easiest one was probably the step-ups, could have done with a higher step but didn’t have anything that was sturdy enough so had to make do with a lower step. Better than nothing.

Pretty happy with the workout. Especially happy over the fact that I keep exercising although everything around me is chaotic. We’ve got a lot done this weekend. Really happy ‘bout that. Feels good to know that we’ve made so much progress and we still have just over a week left for the rest of the stuff.

  • 4 supersets of:
    • 10 * Squats with alternating side leg lift
    • 10 * Wide Sumo squats
    • 10 * Step-ups – 10 on each leg
    • 15 seconds * Invisible chair against the wall

This and that…

January 16th, 2010 Tanja No comments

I’ve been pretty busy today. Right after breakfast we went to buy more moving boxes. So my arms got a pretty good workout when I had to carry them all the way home. After that we’ve spent the hole day packing stuff. We’re not finished yet but there isn’t that much left that we want to save. Tomorrow we will be clearing the flat from stuff that we don’t want to keep any more. I decided against exercise today as I’ve got a lot of “free” exercise today. I think that I will do a routine with lots of squats tomorrow though. :D The routine I’ve designed will probably leave me sore for days *haha*

I can’t really get my head around it. We’re leaving Sweden on 27th… this month! It’s so exciting! :D A little bit scary too though. I’ve never been to the city where we are moving but it seems really nice. I’m really looking forward to exploring it. Once the move is done I’ve decided to start running… or at least try to, and there seems to be a lot of nice parks where I could do my exercise. I have a “thing” about exercising in public but it’s something that I just have to get over. Who cares if my face is red and that I look like I’m about to explode? :D If people don’t have anything better to do than to watch me sweat then why not let them. Maybe they’ll get inspired to do some exercising themselves :D
